Winterborne is an extraordinary and authentic antique Edwardian diamond engagement ring. This handmade platinum beauty centers a richly saturated bezel set Oval Cut sapphire gauged at 1.20ct accompanied by a Guild Laboratories certificate stating the sapphire is unheated with Thailand origin. This vibrant blue sapphire is surrounded by a scintillating double halo of thirty-four Old European Cut and Single Cut diamonds totaling approximately 1.85ct in weight. Winterborne is further adorned with an additional six Old European and Single cut diamonds set inside a floral motif along the shoulders. The ring is finished with lovely milgraining along the platinum edges and elaborate scrolling engraving throughout the gallery and shoulders. This ring is a true example of Edwardian craftsmanship!

HISTORY
During the Edwardian period, technological advances caused major changes in the way that jewelry was manufactured. Jewelers were finally able to work with platinum, which allowed for more intricate and detailed pieces. Delicate settings with lots of diamonds were especially popular during this time, though we also see a number of different colored stones, including sapphires, aquamarines, and rare electric green demantoid garnets.
