sold out!

Woodside is a lovely and authentic early Edwardian (circa 1910) engagement ring that originally started out life as an earring. An 18k yellow gold shank has been added recently. The beautiful ring centers a platinum-topped Oval Cut natural sapphire gauged at 1.40ct accompanied by a Guild Laboratories certificate stating the sapphire is unheated with Thailand origin. Woodside is further enhanced by fourteen Old Mine Cut diamonds that total approximately 0.50ct in weight. Each diamond is carefully nestled within handmade curved scalloped edges creating a soft and feminine look to this classic sapphire and diamond ring. Woodside is currently a size 6 and can be sized to fit.

HISTORY
During the Edwardian period, technological advances caused major changes in the way that jewelry was manufactured. Jewelers were finally able to work with platinum, which allowed for more intricate and detailed pieces. Delicate settings with lots of diamonds were especially popular during this time, though we also see a number of different colored stones, including sapphires, aquamarines, and rare electric green demantoid garnets.
