Brunswick

$13,500.00

Brunswick is a majestic and stunning engagement ring that mixes different generations of design. The center 14k rose gold section is most likely an original Victorian piece dating back to 1880.  This glittering antique buttercup six-prong setting centers an incredibly unique 1.52ct Old European Brilliant Cut diamond accompanied by a GIA certificate stating the diamond is J color and VS2 clarity. Brunswick is further accented by a 14k white gold shank that was most likely added or replaced in the Late Art Deco period (circa 1935). The shank showcases an additional eight Old Mine/Old European Cut diamonds that line the shoulders and total approximately 0.25ct in additional weight. Brunswick is finished with milgraining along the 14k white gold edges and a touch of hand engraving along the shoulders. The ring is currently a size 6.25 and can be sized to fit most ring sizes. If this ring needs to be sized up more than 2.5 sizes it will be subject to a sizing fee and be final sale.

HISTORY
The Victorian Period was named for Queen Victoria, who inherited the throne of England in 1837 when she was only 18 years old. Victoria was young, beautiful, and loved immensely by her subjects. Her tastes in fashion and jewelry were highly regarded and inspired the Victorian jewelry trends of the time. Queen Victoria was married in 1840, and she wore a snake motif ring (a symbol of eternal love at the time) set with her birthstone, a brilliant green emerald, as her engagement ring. In the Victorian era, it was very common for birthstones to be used instead of diamonds for engagement rings. After Victoria’s beloved Albert passed away in 1861, the queen went into the customary mourning period for 18 months, which inspired the gold lockets and black jet pieces commonly seen in this period.
