Mayhew

$2,300.00

Mayhew is an eye-catching and authentic Edwardian era (circa 1910) pearl and diamond navette ring. The sweet ring centers a cream-colored pearl gauged at 4.90mm in diameter. The beautiful, perfectly round pearl is surrounded by a scalloped halo of eight Rose Cut diamonds, and further accented by eight Old European Cut and six additional Rose Cut diamonds all totaling approximately 0.40ctw. The elongated navette shape of the ring is finely decorated with millegraining along the many platinum edges of the hand-pierced platinum top. Mayhew is finished with a slim 14k yellow gold shank and sits low on the finger. This pearl and diamond cocktail ring is an incredible example of the fine craftsmanship of the Edwardian era!

Mayhew is currently a size 6.5 and can be sized to fit. Please contact our concierge with questions.

HISTORY
During the Edwardian period, technological advances caused major changes in the way that jewelry was manufactured. Jewelers were finally able to work with platinum, which allowed for more intricate and detailed pieces. Delicate settings with lots of diamonds were especially popular during this time, though we also see a number of different colored stones, including sapphires, aquamarines, and rare electric green demantoid garnets.
