Back in 2019, Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez announced her engagement to longtime boyfriend Joe LoCicero — and while the couple’s romance had us swooning (they met on set in 2016 and quietly dated for years), it was the engagement ring that really made our hearts skip a beat.

The Ring: Classic Elegance with a Twist

Gina’s ring was Hampstead Heath, a Trumpet & Horn original design created as part of our T&H Exclusive collection. Crafted in platinum, the design centered a bezel-set 1.01ct emerald cut diamond, GIA certified and graded G color and VVS2 clarity.

Emerald cut diamonds are known for their sophisticated, hall-of-mirrors sparkle — but this wasn’t a minimalist moment. Hampstead Heath paired that clean geometry with rich, heirloom-style detail: six step cut diamonds flanking either side of the center stone, a cushion-shaped halo of eight single cut diamonds, and hand-finished milgrain edging. Finished with open metalwork along the gallery and shoulders, the ring shimmered from every angle without ever feeling flashy.

It was a bold-yet-timeless choice — much like Gina herself.

About the Couple

At the time of their engagement, Rodriguez was wrapping up the final season of Jane the Virgin, the hit CW series that had earned her a Golden Globe and a loyal fanbase. LoCicero, an actor and former MMA fighter, had made guest appearances on the show — including the fateful episode where they first met. While the two kept much of their relationship out of the spotlight, their engagement (and later, low-key wedding) radiated joy, thoughtfulness, and a touch of old-Hollywood romance.
