T&H Couple: Emily & David

T&H Couple: Emily & David

Emily & David: From Childhood Friends to Flower Market Fiancés

Some love stories take time to bloom. Emily and David grew up surrounded by the same friends in San Diego’s musical theatre scene. Though they never shared the stage, they shared plenty of overlapping memories — from theatre camp to house parties (and even one well-aimed roll of toilet paper).

Years later, both found themselves living in Los Angeles, working in entirely different industries — Emily in PR, David in entertainment. Despite moving on from acting, their theatre crowd remained a constant, and before long, Emily and David began showing up at the same events and going to the same church. They reconnected as adults — just friends, at first.

Until one November day, when Emily was scrolling through her phone, looking for someone to see The Hunger Games with. David said yes. That movie led to the ballet, which led to Christmas lights, and eventually — to love.

Welcome to the Trumpet Tribe Emily & David!! This adorable San Diego couple got engaged with the Late Art Deco Springwood ring in a field of flowers at the DTLA Flower Mart! (Is there anything more romantic?!) Read along to hear Emily's take of their budding romance.

A Proposal in Full Bloom

In the months leading up to their engagement, Emily had a pretty strong hunch about what was coming — and where her dream engagement ring might be from.

“I had good reason to believe my ring had been purchased from Trumpet & Horn,” she told us. “I’m insatiably curious. Some say I’m a snoop.”

She even started clearing space in the calendar — just in case a surprise proposal needed scheduling.

To throw her off the scent, David teamed up with her closest friends in LA to stage a “sister date” with Rhyen — the teenage daughter of the family Emily had lived with for years. The plan? A trip to the DTLA Flower Mart, one of Emily’s favorite spots.

“We went to Eggslut, took pictures, wandered through the flowers — I had no idea what was coming.”

Meanwhile, David, Rhyen, and her parents were coordinating behind the scenes, tracking Emily’s location via Find My Friends. And then, right in the middle of the orchid stall, he appeared.

“At first, I was confused. And then I saw our friends behind him with cameras, and I realized — oh. This is happening.”

David got down on one knee and asked her to choose him for life. She said yes.

From there, the surprises continued — a scavenger hunt through downtown LA that ended in Pasadena, with a joyful picnic surrounded by 40 of their nearest and dearest.

A Ring to Remember

David proposed with the Late Art Deco Springwood ring, a vintage-inspired engagement ring from the Trumpet & Horn Exclusive Collection. With its softly geometric setting and antique feel, it was everything Emily had dreamed of.

“It was the easiest yes ever,” she said.

The Springwood’s unique design — delicate, timeless, and full of character — made it the perfect match for a love story 15 years in the making.
