Happy Friday! Today we are featuring some of our favorite navette rings! The navette style has been popular for hundreds of years, first popping up in Renaissance & Renaissance-revival jewelry. In French, "navette" translates to "little boat", a reference to the long, canoe-like shape that characterizes the style. The design of this jewelry is very pleasing to the eye, as it pulls the viewer's attention toward the fingertip and elongates the hand. Navette jewelry paved the way for the ever-popular Marquise Cut diamond. During the Victorian and Edwardian eras, the Marquise Cut diamond was a feat of true craftsmanship— extremely difficult to hand cut symmetrically. Once technology advanced, Marquise Cut diamonds took the jewelry world by storm, and all thanks to their boat-shaped relative, the navette! Check out our favorite vintage navette engagement rings below!
