Solvang

sold out!

Solvang is an unbelievable authentic Late Victorian (circa 1900) ring made from platinum and topped with 18k yellow gold. A newer 18k yellow gold shank was later added, most likely during the 1930's. Solvang centers a lovely cornflower blue Oval 2.10ct sapphire accompanied with a Guild Laboratories certificate stating the sapphire is Unheated with Ceylon origin. This pretty ring is further designed with a halo of twelve gleaming Old European Cut diamonds totaling approximately 0.85ct. The brilliant acccent stones are gracefully set within scalloped platinum bezels, each enhanced with finely crafted milgrained edges. Solvang is finished with a simple 18k yellow gold shank. Please note that the shank is a very pale yellow gold, yet photographs as white gold. The ring is currently a size 7.75 and can be sized to fit.

HISTORY
During the Edwardian period, technological advances caused major changes in the way that jewelry was manufactured. Jewelers were finally able to work with platinum, which allowed for more intricate and detailed pieces. Delicate settings with lots of diamonds were especially popular during this time, though we also see a number of different colored stones, including sapphires, aquamarines, and rare electric green demantoid garnets.
